Antonella Sands works as a freelance artist/illustrator on various projects, including book/product illustrations and portrait commissions. She is also the author and illustrator of the children's book "Dreams in a box" , which supported children's in need charities.
Antonella has been teaching in different educational backgrounds for over 20 years, promoting self-expression and creativity. She also worked as a fashion designer and illustrator for childrenswear and womenswear in Italy. She is a member of different art societies and her work has been displayed at their annual exhibitions in London, where she lives.
Antonella uses a variety of mediums, including acrylic and pastel, as well as watercolour pencils , graphite and inks. Her style is a mixture of different techniques and although she experiments with a variety of mediums, she predominantly uses pencils and acrylics.
She particularly enjoys drawing which allows her to create images in a way that she can express the beauty and the unseen that lie beyond conventional forms.
She likes to experiment and to try things out without knowing where it will lead. This approach allows discoveries to be made which is part of the creative process.
"Art and self expression are my core passions. I believes that creativity is the key to our inner self and well-being and that connects us to our true self. I developed a deep passion for drawing at an early age with a special fascination for people and surrealistic, fantasy imagery.
The Pre-Raphaelites have long been my rich source of inspiration through the myths, legends , fables and the symbolism celebrated in their works. My influences are diverse and include a love for literature, photography , theatre and fashion.
My art is an expression of my soul journey: it incorporates personal stories ,memories, states of mind and dreams ."
